A Journey Through Romans

We are excited to invite you into an in-depth study of the Book of Romans that will span most of 2026. While every book of the Bible reveals God's truth, Romans stands apart as particularly rich and foundational to the Christian faith—so central to theology that it's the only individual book typically given its own dedicated course in Bible college. Throughout church history, the study of Romans has been a catalyst for spiritual breakthrough and revival, with many church fathers tracing their conversion to encounters with this powerful letter, including Augustine of Hippo who came to faith at age 23 through Romans 13, and Martin Luther who discovered the true gospel of grace while studying Romans, transforming his relationship with God from fear to love. The Book of Romans accomplishes three vital purposes: it defends the gospel, shapes Christian living, and fuels Christian mission. Paul wrote this letter after twenty years of ministry, likely during a three-month stay in Corinth between AD 55-58 with the help of his scribe Tertius, and entrusted it to Phoebe for delivery to Rome. The Roman church faced unique challenges as Emperor Claudius had expelled the Jews from Rome, making it predominantly a Gentile church, and when Jews returned after Claudius's death, tensions emerged over meeting in homes rather than synagogues and navigating different practices—divisions that Paul addresses throughout the letter as he calls believers to unity in Christ.
